Recently Madonna visited Lisbon and was so fascinated by the country that she has bought a mansion near Sintra, which costs about 5.7 million euro.
The mansion with name Quinta do Relogio Palace (Mansion of Palace of Watches) was built in the 15th century in Manuelino style, and was considered as one of the most beautiful mansions of Portugal. In 1835, Quinta do Relogio Palace was bought by the Portuguese nobleman Manuel Pinto de Fonseca, who earned his fortune by selling slaves from Brazil. Bright and unusual life of this nobleman inspired Alexandre Dumas to write his novel “The Count of Monte Cristo”.
During her stay in Portugal, one of Madonna’s adopted children David Banda from Malawi, visited training of the well-known Portuguese football club Benfica, where coaches noticed his talent. To give David the opportunity to train in Benfica’s junior team, Madonna decided to move to Portugal.
Madonna is going to move to Portugal in September in the beginning of the school year.
Madonna has 6 children. 20-year-old daughter Lourdes will stay in the USA and the rest of the children will move with Madonna to Portugal.
During last years Portugal has become a trend direction. Among celebrities who has already moved to live here: famous actress Monica Bellucci, shoes designer Christian Louboutin, industrial designer Philippe Starck and former football player of Manchester United football club Erik Cantona.
